arichmond64
I got my XL lightning 3 days ago, yesterday i zeroes my scope to perfection, hitting a penny from 20 yards. but then i noticed the scope was creeping back slightly and by the end of my shooting session it had moved about 1 1.5 cm towards my eye. what is this? and how do i stop it? berettaman1
Is the scope moving back in the mounts? or is the whole lot moving back? if so you must 1 get a better set of mounts or 2 you will have to get an arrester block (fits onto dovetails behind scope mount.) arichmond64
yup, its moving back in the mounts, once it happened where the mounts tottaly came loose, but now its slowly creeping back, but if i try and actually move the scope throught the mounts it isnt possible. is it definately the mounts. also, what are SMK spitfire pellets like? pin
If the bolts on the mounts came loose they were not tight enough, alternate tightening front to back. Worth a little thread locker in there too then nip them up tight. Cheap mounts cause lots of accuracy problems, remember they are the the thing linking the scope to the rifle, it could be a top grade match rifle and a Swaro scope but with **** mounts you'd be wasting your time Whichever pellets you can group well with are the best ones, every rifle is different. Try as many as you can and whichever seem to shoot best, stick to those. Given the reputation SMK have, not having tried the pellet, I would say they'd be rubbish - wouldn't know. I do know that nobody has ever raved on about them or even mentioned them on here as far as I can remember.
Ferret Master
SMK Spitfire... would be better leaving the tin unopened and lobbing the whole tin at the target. FM
arichmond64
haha, they seems abit dodgy, i didnt hit the same target twice, this could be the scope the situation with the scope is, it was only the first time the bolts actually came loose, the other time it jst moved slightly, and i couldnt actually move it with my hand. it does move to a certain point and then stop. the scope came with my XL though so it must be for springers atleast. it was really frustrating because i had just got new pellets so i couldnt figure out what was wrong! Gonna Shoot a Wabbit
if you are using a two piece mount switch to a one piece mount. i had the same problem with my lightning. a 1 piece mount sorted it out. A one piece mount clamps and grips along the whole of its surface. rather than the half inch clamped and gripped by two piece mounts. Hope this helps.
