paul1966
just filling out my SGC application and have a couple of queries hopefully someone can answer. I am sure i have read somewhere that they have relaxed the rules on who can countersign the application. i am thinking of asking a work colleague that i have known for several years. part of his job is risk assessing at work so i am assuming i would have no problems asking him? also when it comes to payment instead of sending a cheque is it possible to go to my local nick and pay cash at the front desk? i am thinking that this would possibly speed things up a little. Wookie
To be honest, I don't think the time it takes them to cash a cheque is going to be the factor that causes the longest delay. Also, I am not sure that a local station will have the ability to take cash for something like that. Best check by phoning you FEO though. As for countersignature people, I really would ask the FEO first. They will be able to tell you the sort of person that would be best for the job. Sorry it's not much help. njc110381
Your boss should be ok to countersign. Forget the cash issue, just send a cheque! My certificate application has been in for over seven months so the extra three days isn't really worth the worry

pin
The rules for who can sign have not changed, the guidance on who is "of good standing", has however gained some "clarification" recently. I paid cash for mine at my local nick, just make sure you get a receipt It won't speed anything up, but soon you won't have a cheque book so might as well get some practice in
