Both my fiancee and I have said we'd like to move to France and buy a little place with a bit of land (50 acres or so) in one of the wine valleys, maybe the Loire.

It's just great there and we both love France with a passion. I know that the French are a tempremental race when it comes to people buying land on their shores, but I think we'd fit in and, despite it not being the UK, it would be close enough for rellies to visit us without a major expedition being planned.

Don't wash, develop a surly and unhelpful attitude, get a bike, stripey top and some onions, torch a few sheep and say "hoi he hoi he" alot and you will fit right in.

Exactly where I am :) By the sea in Connemara. Why? Well, went mackerel fishing today, flat calm got sunburnt, tooled around in the boat around the bay and islands. Have rabbits if I want them, greycrows, magpies. Thousands upon thousands of acres for foxing should I be bothered (not lately). Plenty of duck when I get my shottie fixed, plenty of deer if I ever want to go at them. Not to mention owning my own small farm where I will build a house (eventually...). The good weather has started when the tourists are leaving  And I'm closing in on those Lotto numbers, I know cos they keep telling me it could be me...

There's a reason "In God's country" is in my sig yanno...

Sounds like a nice life, John....

please may i have a castle

high up on a cliff surrounded by the sea .i know its not possible as not many castles come on the market .and if they did i think i might not have enough pennies to buy one .so i would settle for a short stay in one instead .and of course it being a castle everyone whom i invite to stay with me will have to dress for the part . my room would be of course in the highest part of the castle .and i will be able to look out at the surrounding sea below me smell the sea breaze .and lay on my four poster bed listening to the waves as they lap the rocks below .inside my room the bedsheets would be of the finest white linen .and in the far corner of the room would be a big roaring fire .a big comfly armchair would be position beside the fireplace and at my feet would lay my two dogs .each morning i would walk with my dogs along the coastline .looking out for small rockpools and every now and again dipping my toes in the cold icey water .

then we would head up to the top of the cliffs in search of wild heather and berries . on arriving back at the castle a old tin bath would be waiting for me in front off the open fire in my room .to which i would add some of the heather .then after a long soak i would climb into the crisp white sheets and slowly drift off to the sound of the sea. the snaping and crackling of the fire and the sweetsmelling fragrant of the heather and berries xxxx suzy

Been to so many places, it would be difficult to pick just one, however, if this place existed, I would live there forever; nice clear stream with trout and salmon for the fly rod, upland game and wildfowl, a stag or deer every now and again for good red meat, 4 seasons, no rude or obnoxious people, and the neighbors should be hunters as well, who don't live too close, a decent pub for a good pint or a wee dram and some socializing would top it off nicely. Mrs. Sweepy, do you happen to write romance novels? Sounds like my wife's idea of heaven. I am now back in reality, hope to get some shooting in tomorrow morning before work in the afternoon.

Canada over ever country I have visited by a mile. Alaska is nice but its american, the Canadians beat the yanks on everything social. Fantastic is an understatement and in two years time ( fingers crossed ) I shall be posting from there.

Putting the wheels in motion and cant ever see a reason to come back for more than a couple of weeks.

Got to be better than going to the land of convict in breeds ?

Apologies if you are Australian but its true.

I realy like this guy  I apreciate how many of you fellas would perfer Canada I cant argue it is a vast and beautiful country i dont care for our politics but i love Canada very much i think Australia or NewZealand would also be fantastic and some parts of the northwestern USA are very nice aswell I was in the UK once with the Army in Wales near the Rhonda and in Breacon and aside from your very strict laws you have a very pretty country rich in history but most people from the UK tell me the Great in Great Britain is slowly and sadly eroding sadly in western society as more people become phoney and live in big metro centers they loose there connection to there roots and there ability to think outside the box, I also liked the Idea of Scandanvia or switzerland. Cheers fellas you have i think a very nice country try to win it back for the British people I not so long ago cosiderd a term of service with the British Army but i am considering New Zealand now but i know of a couple ex Canadian soldiers that went to the British Army, its funny the grass is always greener on the other side, i know a few EX british and Kiwi soldiers in my battalion about 4 of them are williams's from the welsh guards LOL makes roll call confusing, anyway if any of you fellas or ladys come my way let me know have a beer on me!

Having the plesure of shooting with john in connemara it is a special place its probably the only place in Ireland that is still untouched by housing estates motorways ect The scenery is nothing short of spectalular small lakes scattered everwhere woods full of Red deer for anyone interested in stalking i have not got into it yet but would love the thought of sitting out on one of those hills like the ones near conors house at dawn waiting patiently on a crisp winters morn feeling like your the only one on this earth :P I should have taken a few pics when i was there it really is stunning  Where i am in Ireland near the east coast is not bad but all the people seem to be in a competition to see who has the biggest house, car ect and stuck up there own **** What i would miss if i left here is going out on a frosty morn in december with my springer in pursuit of a crafty old cock pheasant in a thick ditch along a freshly sown tillage field :o
