casts_by_fly
What would you use them on in the UK ?? Henry, Any small pests where you want a highly frangible bullet. Rabbits at longer ranges (over 100 yd), crows, pigeons, fox, etc. There is a video (I think on the barnes website) that shows the frangibility of them. They shot one into a grape that is suspended on a string. The grape exploded. If you shoot in a place where you have a less than optimal backstop these heads will break up when they hit dirt. They are also useful in a 22 hornet or a low velocity 223 load as they still expand reliably at lower velocities and since they are only 36 gr they can be driven to higher velocities in a hornet. If you save the furs on any fox you shoot they are brilliant as they leave a pinhole going in and don't exit. Thanks, rick
casts_by_fly
here go: http://www.barnesbullets.com/videos/224_36..._grape_logo.wmv This particular one is a .224" bullet going 4300 fps. It is an extreme example showing (1) the high speed that you can drive them and (2) the frangibility of the head. they have a BC of a bowling ball at .149 but for sub 300 yd shots they would be just fine. thanks rick
