hi all , was looking for a bit of advice from you guys and gals, i have 2 jills and 1 hob who are all this years kits. now i don't want any baby's in the spring but i would like it if all my ferrets could live together all year round, would you advise castration for him and spaying for the girls , or should i just get the hob a vasectemy. like i say i would like them to able to live together all year round without fear of them dragging each other around to much when they come into season.

many thanks

If you get him castrated then hes good for nothing apart from working .If you get him snipped he can live with your bitches all year round and bring them out of season as needed. if you get you bitches spayed you wont need the hob . Most guys go for getting a hob snipped as its cheaper and he can bring loads of bitches out of season this is the road i prefer as i work mainly bitches and if they turn out good workers you can borrow a full hob to breed from them for replacements

thanx for the advice , carnt wait to get them working . i'm sure the girls will work well they seem very sharp and bright. the hob on the other hand is the laziest i have ever known , tho i think that is down to my girlfriend falling in love with him and spoiling him far too much !

Agree totally with Bigbob, I've got 1 hob and 2 Jill's, I got the hob castrated thinking he would see to the Jill's to bring them out of season, he's not very interested in fact just had to get the Jill's the Jab to bring them out of season as they had started to lose hair which is due to too much oestrogen being present in their bodies.

Get the hob the snip and he will still do the business, and don't worry too much just now about him appearing to be lazy, when he gets a sniff of rabbit at a burrow instinct should take over you might get a pleasant surprise.
