aberisle
I have made BB sized Bismuth in mould i bought from here https://www.martysarms.com/products/round-ball-molds-inch-sizes I have also dripped the shot to make size 3to 4 shot it is not completely round but t patterns ok and kills well. The setup i used for dripping the was was very basic look on youtube my set up is something like this but using a gas camping stove:
Ferretlurcher1970
Was the saving worth it? Where did you get the bismuth?
aberisle
I got the Bismuth from ebay/china it cost around £20 a kilo but the price does vary so buy it when its cheap when you get a kilo of bismuth you alloy it with tin solder at 60 grams per kilo that gives you your 94/6 alloy ratio, itsquite easy to do. old'un
Never made any shot myself but looking at the video it seems to me that the drip is to close to the water? I always thought you needed some height to allow the surface tension to pull the molten metal into a round ball and cool slightly before it hit the water, hence the use of shot towers, be interested to know why home shot making is done this way. Ferretlurcher1970
What relation is there between dripper hole size to shot diameter?
aberisle
This is more like the setup i use, for the dripper i used 3d printing nozzles and i just opened out the hole with a drill to about .8mm if i went any larger the bismuth just ran out like water, so 0.8 gave me shot of about 3.2 to 3.4 mm.
