MC
I was given a bag full of cooking apples a couple of days ago so last night I made 8 apple crumbles to go in the freezer, although one never made it. I used 6" diameter foil dishes. Start by peeling and coring the appples and then chop them into bitesize chunks, arrange these in the dishes so you fill each one about 2/3rds. Then sprinkle a level dessert spoon of caster sugar over each one along with about 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon powder. The crumble itself is made in a food processor using the following ingredients 4oz demerera sugar 4oz butter 1/2tsp ground ginger 6-7oz plain flour Whizz them up until you have a fine breadcrumb style mixture, you may need to add more flour if it becomes more like dough. Bake on the middle shelf of an oven at 160degrees centigrade (320 fahrenheit, gas mark who knows) for about 35mins Enjoy with some cream or custard. starlight32
I made some last week, but I always have the same problem. The juice from the apple always ends up swimming over the crumble making it a slop. What is going wrong?

Try using 50/50 cooking and eating apples as the cookers disintegrate the eaters stay firm and leave the crumble high and dry. Try using some oats on the surface of the crumble as it is brills toasted, just like Hob nobs

That way any liquid from them will be absorbed by the crumble mix and it will go even crunchier.
webber
When I telephoned lancslad to give him the score for our mornings eforts; he was midst crumble concoction. THis was a feable tho tasty excuse for not following up a lead for some permission. Like most things involving Lancslad, we will probably get there -----------------albeit---------eventually. Enjoy!!! webber
