ritz
Ok so sent away for my SGC today, registered mail, will arrive there tomorrow... Fingers crossed they will be able to give me an appointment soonish. I wput my safe in, but I don't have a cartridge safe yet, do I need a seperate safe for cartridges or can I just get a one drawer filing cabinet with keys for that? Anyway thought i'd share in my excitement of ALMOST having a license... all that needs to happen now is them telling me no...
cartridge
You do not have to lock up carts just store them in a seperate place.

LEFTY478
There's no (current) requirement for cartridges to kept in a safe. Just use common sense, especially if you have any small childred or other 'risks' in or regularly visiting your house. Keep mine in the garage on heavy duty shelving. J@mes
are the shells affected by moisture or changes in temperature?
myuserid
are the shells affected by moisture or changes in temperature? Yes, moisture especially, keep them in a dry warm place.
mr_colt
Yeah the filing cabinet seems to be a good cheap option if you want something to keep the carts out of harms reach inside the home. mr_colt.
ritz
Aaaah ok nice one, currently I have a few carts hidden/stored in the house, no chance of easily finding it. At least that saves me a bit of money for the time being.
henry d
You do not have to lock up carts just store them in a seperate place. Not in my house, I have around 2 500 in the same room as the guns, rifle ammo is another matter.
Wookie
Yay! Nice going Ritz! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, but I don't reckon you'll need it. Has your dad put in his application as well?

Has your dad put in his application as well? I'm going to his place the weekend to help him put the safe in, hopefully he will have the common sense to apply for the licence so long, it only takes about 30 minutes to put the safe in so should have it in by saturday morning... YAY for me

No certificate required for possession of section 2. shootguns carts.

ritz
I should rephrase. They were bought for me with a licence for shooting on the day with me there, I have less than 25 catridges that were left over, which I am planning on using on my next shoot. If I am not allowed to have them i'll get rid of them, but as far as I can tell I am ok to have them

mr_colt
The only problem having carts without a certificate is; if you happened to have a sect 58(2) antique shotgun in your home. To be held as a curio or ornament etc. Obviously 99% of these are going to be black powder guns anyway, but its always worth considering. We always know how fussy the police can be when it comes to firearms "regulations." mr_colt.
