The occupier of the land has no right over the sporting rights in this case shooting that wricght falls to the land OWNER WE are just going through this at the minuet on one of my permissions which has part of the farm rented to another bloke BUT NOT FOR MUCH LONGER

It is my understanding (possibly Scottish law?) that a tenant farmer may give you permission to shoot vermin without consulting the land owner and it is only for game shooting that the owner gives permission.

No expert but that was my understanding.

That is correct, a tenant farmer may give permission to shoot vermin on rented land provided the person or persons are named to the owner of the land where as the term is known as 'Named Gun'

I know this as being correct as I am a named gun on some of my permissions and I have to sign to accept that it is my responsibility to control vermin when asked- it is renewed every year in a written agreement.

Just to add my 2 pence worth.....from the posts I do not see anyone being personal towards you.....i see concern so that you do not drop yourself in the ****. As with most laws, Firearm legislation leaves a lot of grey areas to allow for judicial process(bearing in mind most of the laws are written by legal type Govn E,ployees who have a vested interest in keeping people going trhuogh the court system. It is all very well an FLO or some one from the BASC saying it is OK to do something.....That will not stop an incident on the day where a police Officer on the ground interprets the law a different way and you get nicked for pretty serious firearm offences - the gun(s) get taken away - your house gets searched - yousit on bail for months crapping yourself whilst a junior clerk from the CPS tries to figure out the Firearms act and then decides you have done something wrong - you get charged with a firearm offence - and at your first court appearance the CPS decide to drop the charge.

If you have not already sussdit, the above circumstances actually happened to a friend of mine.

So please do not get too precious if someone shows concern/worry over your antics. they just might save you a whole world of pain. It would be far easier to wait for your SGC so that there can be no areas of concern.
