from what I can see the only creditable source of this report is the Sun and in its own piece at the bottom has the statement.

Yesterday the Department for Culture, Media and Sport appeared to leave room for a U-turn.

A spokesman said: “No decision has yet been made.

“We haven’t made any final arrangements for the opening ceremony yet.â€

seems like yet more trying to make a story and someone has jumped on the Incensed bandwagon and started the petition without any facts or firm proof

signed and emailed to everyone in my address book.

How much more can we BRITISH (although i class myself as ENGLISH, not BRITISH) take before we have finally had enough?

My worry is that it will be when it's too late to do anything about it. I.E. when we have a foreign PM or MP.

For those who haven't quite managed to read it I will replicate Tully's post as I too have just read the e-mail.

Emailed response from the PM's Office

'The e-petition asking the Prime Minister to "to Allow the Red Arrows to Fly at the 2012 Olympics" is ongoing. This is a response in advance of the closing date from the Government.

It is not true to suggest that the Government has banned the Red Arrows from celebrations to mark the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The organising committee of London 2012 will decide what to include in the celebrations - but with five years to go, decisions are yet to be made on what the celebrations will look like, although you can be assured that they will be a spectacular showcase of Britain's best.'
