Cattle and conservation

Very nice. It's a well used practice in a lot of places. Well used -  but badly publicised😡 Plenty of reserves use a variety of livestock depending on the requirement of nature. I worked at a Wildlife Trust site for a while that specialises in chalk grasslands, and has a good number of Chiltern Gentians, which are  a combination of browsing Hebridean sheep and grazing Dexters gave the ideal conditions. Not that the crazy vegan brigade would accept that!

Conservation grazing works. And tastes great😉

Baically nature at work.  Pull up Harry's Farm on youtbe and although he is a farmer wanting to make a living from his investment part of his farm is down to permanent grassland and grazed by in calf cows then left to itself for the natural wild flower growth to take place.  Of course the vegan brigade and make everyhting Wild Again ignore such work and effort.  This re wilding will only work if ALL human encroachment is stopped. Fence it off and let it go truly wild with no human input.

Agreed much/most of the UK's wildlife depend on land management, just wish the Guardian readership realised it
