ollie
My permit is up for renewal next march and I was wandering what is the chances that the police will let me have a .22 rimfire. I have been told by shooting companions that i don't have a chance because the shotgun I have on my FAC is shared on both mine and my fathers FAC's. But I think I will be able to get it because there is plenty of farmers who can give me permission to shoot vermin on their land and I also will be able to say that I am controlling the vermin on my fathers small pheasant shoot. I will be 21 at the time if that makes a difference. cheers ollie
Hammergun
Provided the land is suitable and that you don't have a criminal record, you should have no problem.
Guest Mr Pieman
I agree with hammergun. I have three 'shared' guns on my certificate so it shouldn't be a problem
Fisherman Mike
Cant see a problem either Ollie, You have demonstrated over the last 5 years I assume that you are a responsible gun owner. I would recommend that you ask for written permission from the Land Owners where you would intend to use the .22 before re-applying and you can then demonstrate to the Fire Arms Licencing section that you have acted responsibly. I would be tempted to make contact with your Local Fire Arms Officer and ask him to pop round and see you. I am sure he will only be too pleased to do this and I think you will find this will go a long way. Mike.
Rimfire
Ollie, There may be an issue. You say that you share shotguns on an FAC. If the other person has access to the same storage cupboard that you would store the .22 rimfire in, then there would be a problem. You may need to install a seperate cabinet for the .22 so that only you have access to it. Best regards Rimfire
ollie
Thanks for all the replies guys all your advice has been helpful. If I get it rimfire I will be installing my own cabinet. F.M. I had to get written permission from land owners before I got my FAC (the police made me get it) so I can't see any problem getting it again. DanJ
I dont think age would be an issue as i got my .22 at 17 ( i also got my .243 at 19) good luck
