I have pictures of the notification from HMRC, stating to change my tax code, and then a box stating P45 Taxable Gross. When I add the number in the box to my earnings for the year, it basically comes to the £103,000 number on my pay slip give or take a few hundred quid. So either HMRC meant that number to be my TOTAL earnings to date for the time period, and my Payroll department have ADDED it to my current earnings by mistake, or HMRC have sent that number to them by mistake? Lloyd90
Just for anyone interested, Following a review of the evidence provided by my employers payroll, this is an error by HMRC, and will need to be sorted out by them. No a right mess from HMRC who appear to have got themselves confused and are sending out the wrong info! Quite frustrating as it then takes ages for them to correct the error or even get hold of them!
