Fastenings for gun case

Please could someone advise me how to fasten a new strap(the one that holds the stock) into a solid gun case.The one that should be in is missing and the fastenings are rusty so in effect useless.I have made a new strap from an old stirrup iron strap but am unsure how to fix it through the case.The original ones are through the back.Its a break down case.

Capped rivets, bottom one has worn through the lining and top one is on the way.

As replacement you can get single capped rivets (which these are) or double capped rivets like on the link below.

Whichever, you will need to work out total depth of leather and case, and order appropriately. Tool set is available as well and not usually expensive.

Horrible things that unless leather covered on the buckle damage the checkering on the wrist. I take them OUT of my guncases as they serve no purpose at all in a properly fitted case. I suspect the OP's case's previous owner also had the same opinion. They really are not necessary. What purpose do they serve?
