polester
not sure if this is in the right forum but bear with me. I have a 10 year old daughter who wants to shoot with me. I have a chane of buying a nearly new lincon 20 bore at a ghood price. the stock will have to be cut down to fit her. does anyone know of a good way to put a padded butt plate on which allows for extension as she grows. Any advice helpful as don`t want to ruin a stock.
Dunkield
I have a Lincoln 20 bore too, and find the stock way to short for me, so I bought a leather slip on stock pad off ebay. The rubber ones are horrible but with the leather version the gun still comes up nicely without snagging, and you can slip more/less padding inside it. Cranfield
The best bet would be to take your daughter into your local Gunshop and get their advice. A lot depends on arm reach and physical stature of the shooter. Some 10 year olds can be little weeds and some can be near 6ft tall. If she is slight, then you are probably going to have to take quite a bit off the stock and as she grows it may be difficult to increase the stock sufficiently, just with recoil pads. I would agree with stuartp that leather slip on recoil pads are the way to go. If the Gunshop recommends a 20 bore, I would buy the cheapest good S/H one available to you, because you could be selling it on again in about 3 years time, to someone with a 10 year old daughter and they may not be easy to find. Sako7mm
My mate had the same problem with the same make of gun. He bought a new stock from the importers for about £75 and cut sections from the stock which will be replaced as his son grows.
