A member asked for photos and a description of the folding shooting stool I had made.

Materials

two hay fork shafts cut to length required (more on that later)

three lengths of threaded rod  3/8th to 1/2 inch diameter,  6 inches for standard without extensions, longer if extended.

Welde and bend  some 1/4 inch diametre rod  to form a three legged sweivel for the legs to turn on.

Sufficient strong material for the seat and a selection of screws and washers to secure.

I hope the attached photos give some idea as to how it all goes together.

The first extensions I put on mine was so it could be shortend to fit in my bag when travelling overseas. The second extension was when I started to use it for driven shooting and needed to be higher enabling to stand quickly and easily. The threaded rod can be just seen at the bottom of one leg where it protrudes about an inch and makes the legs less likely to slip. Also you can see the wide round 'pad' made from stockboard and these stop sinking in soft ground.

The seat you see is made from leather with the corners double reinforced and all heavily stitched secured in the top of the legs with long screws and washers and on this stool I Araldited some round antler discs on to cover the screws.

I fitted a sling to carry and also a length of nylon tape with a quick release catch to keep it all together when carrying.

This one has done a lot of mileage in the last five/six years and is still going strong.

Others are amazed at how comfortable they are to sit on and I have perched on this one for up to three hours at a time when on driven game shoots in Slovenia........ probably that's why I walk funny🤣

I add that I made two of these from the hayfork shafts.  Any ash shafts would wotk fine, just need to be straight grain and of sufficient thickness.
