Tarka
Had this fox tonight at dusk. This now one of 4 shot on my beat on the shoot now. Got up at first light sunday to shoot one te farmer saw saturday evening. i saw one but it saw me first and ****** off! This evening, i finished my jobs and stood near the wood i saw the fox at on sunday. Calle for no more than 2 mins and he come charging out of the wood about 150 yards and didnt stop once! Shot him at 7yrds with no 6 32grs. Took my head keepers advice and didnt bother with fox rounds....all you need is good field craft and shoot him at your feet....seems to work for me! This is my first fox with the shotgun, on my own with my own calling, on my first own beat on my first full time keepering job. This evening im a very happy chap. GREAT SUCCESS p.s. sorry photos are ****, was on my phone and i was dead excited so shaking like a muppet

JohnGalway
Well done Tarka, I know you weren't lamping but with the shotgun is always my favourite way to get them when I'm out. What SBS is that? I always liked them a lot. And seven yards, could you not have gotten a bit closer

tikkamark
Well done tarka, the only foxes i shot with the shotgun were ones that were either driven out of cover by dogs or bolted from earths i often called them in real close like that some bit of excitement to see them charging in at full speed
