JohnfromUK
Another sad loss of a politician who (though I often didn't agree with her views) I always thought straight, fair and honest as speaker. RIP
oowee
She was such a lovely and dedicated individual. My boss (Clive Dutton) and I worked on establishing a trust in her name unfortunately he died unexpectedly before it could be completed. I also put together a series of presentations for Black Country MP's on a European funded, land reclamation programme at the House of Commons. Betty was a huge help and not only endorsed it but allowed the invitations to go out in her name and gave the opening remarks remarks for me. Super talented and committed individual. RIP. udderlyoffroad
I used to come home for lunch and PMQs would be on Sky News, I’d watch her keeping a handle on things in the chamber, in a way no speaker since has. Leader of the opposition Blair would be making mincemeat of that most useless of all PMs, Major*. Tories and labour alike would be quite raucous, knowing an absolute spanking in a general election was inevitable. Plus ca wossname. *Funny how the press now hang on his every word as if it were gospel…
