Camera equipment options

I've said in other posts about rats in a building that has bales and cow feed pellets, and found traps not very successful with so much food on floor.

I've had a couple of goes with air rifle and NV / thermal spotter shooting through a side door, where they scamper back and forth. Viewing through spotter intermittently hoping to see a target, then switching on scope to take the shot. I had 5 last night but need a better set up.

So, if I wanted a constant view of the small area offered, I was thinking of rigging up some sort of NV / thermal camera with a viewing screen so the area could be constantly monitored ( about 12 to 20 yds ).

Don't need to actually record footage, just view. Apart from something like a small Sony cam corder which has NV option, is there an option to view a screen in real time ?

Any suggestions ?

Poison pellets inside a 2 metre toilet waste pipe on a slight incline ( to prevent water getting to the bait) with the bait at a sealed end. As personally think the camera option will drive you nuts watching for them but if that's what you really want then just set up a wifi camera or a gsm camera if no wifi available

Something like a plank on end held by som bricks they may stop before going over it placed so you can see Borge sides from the door ?

the ones I watch escaping over the muck heap wall from the cattle feed trays all seem to stop to negotiate a breeze block that I left there !

I was put onto the idea by an old boy farmer !

some times it’s the simple things that work

worth a try ?

I always thought though that they are very wary of new objects appearing in their area, worth a try though like you say.

I do have a couple of NV spotters I haven't used for ages. One is a Bresser from Lidl, the other is a Pulsar Digi something.

So what I was thinking of trying was as they both run off AA batteries, trying one at a time, keep it on constantly and just line a small ir torch on target again on constantly, so I only have to put the NV to my eye to view rats. Which would save me switching on and off my thermal spotter. Then use scope as needed, which would be on standby mode.

The NV spotters do have ir's on them but might be a bit too strong as they are not adjustable. But with the separate ir torch I can adjust to flood and turn down power, as we're only shooting between 12 and 16 yds.
