steve_b_wales
A 'like for like' variation means that you can sell a firearm,eg. .22 rifle to someone, or part-exchange it, and have another one of the same calibre added to your certificate, in lieu of the one sold. There is no charge for this service, and it should only take a week or two to finalise (if your lucky)
al4x
basically you can't just sell a firearm and buy another one you have to sell the gun and get the permission to aquire another of the same caliber put on your license.

Dunkield
thats not what i've done i sold 2 rifles to better myself and they kept them on computer for when i want to replace That sounds illegal to me, as they will be added to the licence of whoever you sold them to, so they will be on 2 certificates at the same time? Or have I misunderstood what you meant?
choke it
no because i notified the firearms hq withing 72 hours
jingzy
Hope they have put that in writing or email to you as they can easily make you pay for a variation when you go to buy a new rifle as you are supposed to apply on the appropriate form within 7 days of selling your old rifles. Hope you dont get stung
al4x
no because i notified the firearms hq withing 72 hours they have to print the permission to acquire on your license before you can get the replacement gun this is a free varaition, so you do have to send your ticket in otherwise it is illegal. Of course shotguns are a different matter
Devon Fox
I was sent a temp' cert for the firearms that i was getting rid of, and a new cert with a slot for the new rifle, the temp' cert was sent back once i had disposed of my rifles.
