Rifle barrels

Anyone use rifle with 24" barrel for stalking,if so how do you find them are they cumbersome or should I go with a shorter barrel.

Depends if you need to max out velocities or not, unless taking long shots on open ground go for the shorter option.

stick too a standard barrel less weight and a lot easier to move around

What calibre? 
 

I have read that a 20” 243 barrel struggles to make legal energy requirements.

Does better with a 24” barrel.  
 

308 etc not as much of an issue, does well with shorter barrels. 
 

Big powder cartridges (270/30-06 etc) I wouldn’t want a short barrel either as think they sort of defeats the point. 
 

What do you want the rifle for is also a key consideration.
 

If stalking open ground may not matter, if foxing from a vehicle as a duel purpose rifle or stalking heavy brush/woodland a short barrel might be easier to manoeuvre.
