butchdickason
I was given a magazine today called Despatches and in it is a picture of two old ex soldiers, brothers, one aged 83 and his younger brother, they both served throughout WW2,the caption reads "To old to fight - To proud to ask". Every three months the two walk for five days to the Gurkha welfare centre to collect their welfare pensions which is their only income, the article continues:- For over 180 years the Gurkhas have helped to fight our wars and keep the peace, they have won 13 Victoria Crosses. If there was a minuite's silence for every Gurkha casualty from World War Two alone, we would have to remain silent for two whole weeks. The above paragraph really moved me and I have now sent a donation to the fund that helps these old soldiers. If any one wants to help the address to send donations is: The Gurkha Welfare Trust. 1 Old Street. London.EC1V9XB. Tel: 02072515234.
