gmm243
Yes, I do lots of fishing and take about 10 days holidays to fish at mayfly time plus I live near my local lough and keep my boat in the water so I have under 1p minutes drive to be at the boat. I fish in Lough Derg in Clare every year. I go down to shoot woodcock in the winter then go back in May. The mayfly hatch there is usually very early so 4 of us go every year around the first or second weekend in May. This year was awful,I came home after two days and didn't miss anything but when it is good it is very good and we have all had some great fish. My local lough is more reliable and being so close I can go when the conditions suit. One night this year we didn't go out until after 8 and we had 7 fish before the sun went down. I enjoy all fishing but there is something lovely about sitting on the lough in a warm evening watching the mayfly dancing knowing that when they come down the fish will be on them and there is every chance of a good fish. My best this year was 5lb 2oz. I would love to fish a chalk stream sometime but I think it would be well out of my budget.
