cragman
As usual for me, from late April ’til the end of June I study the cuckoo. I’ve done this for more years than I care to remember and have always found the bird fascinating. I monitor pipit nests during this time and this year once again was lucky enough to have a female cuckoo visit one of the nests I’ve been watching. 👍🏻
oowee
Brilliant. Why do you do monitor the nests?
cragman
I do it for the BTO nest record scheme and the RSPB who manage the land
oowee
Good for you. I do lots of stuff for the local wildlife trust here with Adder and Bat counts. It's good to see hunters working on conservation.
JKD
Well done for your efforts and getting pictures of something most people never actually see,,,, me included 🙂
JDog
Thanks for posting. In my youth I found several nests either with a Cuckoo's egg or a chick in them. Never did I imagine the rarity of those events in later years. I must confess I have a love/hate relationship with the Cuckoo. On one hand I enjoy hearing it's unique call and it is a beautiful bird to look at. On the other I do not exactly appreciate what the chicks do to their nest mates (or eggs) or to their foster parents.
