I guess if it's still showing full production at peak sun then it is down to the poor weather. 

A 10% shading on my pv will show a 50% reduction in output.

The reason is if one panel is shaded or faulty, all the panels work at reduced performance, unless you have an inverter for each panel, so your guess could in theory be correct, if Zoli had one faulty panel it could bring his whole system performance down substantially.
