edenman
There was a rumour that BASC were trying to see if they could allow duck wing samples to be sent in online? Given we are on the verge of the new season does anyone know what if anything came of this???
Sweet11-87
part of my pack this season was a QR code for reporting sarcocystosis(rice breast) online but the wing server, they still wants them frozen and posted.
edenman
That’s a shame, that will be another season I don’t supply them with duck wings.

How do you mean submit on-line. What would they gain out of that? Genuine question. I sent a load in last season and it would be nice to know the origins of my birds. I thought some of the sampling might be isotopic (pinning the origin to a longitude and latitude on the globe - I think!). Why wouldn't you post them? In the same way I submitted my goose wings via the app??? I why wouldn’t I post them? No space, the time involved…

I thought there would be physical sampling - maybe not? They have been accepting goose wings all of last season through the epicollects app they have. As I said there was rumours that they could do the duck wings also electronically but perhaps like you said they need to physically sample them to get the correct data? It would’ve made things easier for me if they could have done the duck wings via the app. Cheers.
wigeon jim
There used to be a perfectly good wing survey running years ago which was all stopped because of health and safety issues regarding handling wings, I still have records of hundreds of duck weights taken and sent in with the wing samples back then, don’t know what has changed , with BASC track record regarding wildfowling nowadays I would not trust them with any information the survey might throw up,
