New watch - Steinhart or similar?

Hi folks

 

My faithful but ancient Tag 2000 needs a service and some repairs to bezel etc., and it's looking like costing at least 3 or 4 hundred pounds, so toying with the idea of a new watch instead. I like a smallish watch, two tone steel and gold for preference, and automatic. Hence the Tag. I found Steinhart, e.g. https://www.steinhartwatches.de/en/diver-watch/diver-watch-39mm/ocean-39-gmt-2-two-tone-chocolate.html which is supposed to be a pretty good clone of a Submariner but at a much lower cost. Has anyone had one of these, and would you recommend Steinhart? Or other brands I could look at?

Take a look at a custom made seiko, half the price, good reliability and a pretty unique watch here are a couple of sites, i do like Mister Khronan.

Budget up to £1000 maybe? £500 better if possible... Everyday wear so something that can take the odd knock. I'd consider secondhand, but wouldn't be able to tell a fake from a genuine!

Casio Marlin Duro - £80 ish, resistant to 20 bar, excellent time keepers and they look the part.

I've got a Seiko, great watches but they are known to have alignment issues.

I've had a Casio Waveceptor for years. Self-charging, self adjusting and as tough as old boots.
