starlight32
Dropped off some duck at the In-laws on friday. They love game and I always give them some bits and pieces cos the father-in-law has packed in shooting. When I got in last night there was an envelope waiting for me. The wife said 'mum dropped this off for you' When I opened it there was a broken half tooth, eight pieces of 5mm steel shot and an invoice for £75.00. They had the duck for sunday roast and poor old mother-in-law had an accident. She had only had that tooth done a fortnight ago. Should I pay up or take my chances in court?? Devon Fox
Should have been more aware shouldnt she!, cant believe she was suprised to find shot in it! For the sake of peace i would give her £75, minus the shop prices of all game you have given them, you might end up being paid !
webber
£75 is hardly worth the trouble in court, but we are talking mother - in - law here, so it could be no holds barred. You could always refer her to your insurers! It does make you think that it may be worth requiring a signed disclaimer from recipients of free game. webber

After it is all in the best possible taste. She could have least give me back the other 100 pieces of shot. Damned unreasonable I say
tulkyuk
Go out and shoot an "Old Cow", pull its teeth out and give em to the mother in law on a more serious note, does you BASC/NGO/other shooting insurance cover for things like this or is it just shooting related injury whilst out pursing your sport
LEFTY478
I suspect that there's an awlful lot of married men that would think that, 75 quid for a chance to break some of the M-in L's grumping stones, represents bloody good value. Pay the 'fee' and give her smile... a nice big (natural) smile. Win-win situation. Nothing more to see here, move along now, please.

mr lee
Can I have some of this shot loaded duck for my mother in law please? :yp: It would be easier (less earache) in the long run to pay up and not supply any further free meat to them. If they ask why, show them the invoice they gave you. They should get the message you aren't happy about it then.
starlight32
In all fairness and from reading the previous replies in all due respect to my mother-in law she took it all in good stead- Her invoice was a joke. I have since posted a letter back through her letter box stating the following; 'In respect of your counter claim for dental damage caused whilst eating the above mentioned fowl given to yourself my yours truly, I can now confirm the bird was shot by another offending party as there is no way on I can hit anything with any shot larger than number 4's'
