markm
A guy at work is retiring and he likes bird watching and walking. He has some cheap ones and thought it would be nice to get him some nice ones as a retirment present. He has had a stroke down his left hand side so not to heavy please. Looking to spend 200 - 300 quid, which ones would you recommend and where to get them?
Dunkield
Bushnells aren't bad for the money- optics Warehouse for them Avian's are highly rated by twitchers, and they are quite picky normally - look at Ace Camera's in Bath for those. Bazooka Joe
Markm, cannot go wrong with the likes of this; Bino's Don't go for the higher magnification for bird watching, what's in the link is ideal, BJ.
Gonna Shoot a Wabbit
Steiner or Leica are both very good and in that price bracket. Do a search on the net for best prices and availability
Dunkield
I would have thought you would be very lucky to get Leica's for that sort of money, but would love to be proved wrong.
Rapid 17
About 3 - 4 years ago i wanted to buy a top quality pair of binoculars and was prepared to pay between £600 and £800 for either Leica or Swarovski. However, somebody recommended a pair of Ace Avian 8 x 42 from a company called Ace Optics. I bought them on a 14 day trial and they were and still are fantastic. They cost me £279.00 and i have since compared them to both Leica and Swarovski binoculars at over £800.00 and they seem to be just as good. They have been improved since i bought mine but have only gone up in price by £10.00. THe website is here www.acecameras.co.uk and the bins are Avian F 8 X 42, code number A842F. Geoff.
