monkeyboots
Well done MB, you should put together a post on how you go about your shooting, you get great results, keep up the good work mate :look: its simple just find a pile of fir trees and you are sure to get the magpies coming into roost , if its a new set of trees ive never shot before i get into them for about half 2ish walk about till i find a place wheres its full of bird droppings thats usually where they are roosting at ,if its sumwhere ive shot before then i know where they land at i get myself in the trees for 3pm and then its just a waiting game till they start to come into roost and then its just a matter of giving them a taste of lead the blowy evenings are best , theres a clump of fir trees i shoot that are really tight together with no gaps in them but just at the back end of the fir trees theres a small rough patch with a single sycamore tree in it about 15 yards out from the fir trees the magpies seem to use this as a landing pad where they seem to checking everything is ok before gliding into the fir trees its a great ambush spot for me , and im just after finding a new place full of magpies and grey crows so im hoping tomorrow i find out who owns it and hopefuly get permission to shoot the trees , since the 11th of november ive shot well my mate was with me 1 nite as well but the total so far is 59 , plus ive shot about 13 or so during the summer , so hopefuly that number will get bigger before spring starts plus you can add about 15 grey crows to that as well
JohnGalway
Nice one MB, thanks for the reply There's a bit of a wood runs alongside my farm, owner wants the maggies cleared out, already got 5 or 6 on a neighbours land where sheep are being fed on the ground, I'll take a walk through the wood.
