markm
Attached are 2 photos of my Lanber 20 bore's action on the inside, I wrote to GMK before xmas and asked what they thought about it. Their response copied direct from an email is below. 2 questions - Are other peoples like this and what do you think? Keep in mind the gun is like new in every other respect. GMK quote - Hello Mark Thank you for your letter regarding your 20b Lanber. Your pictures of the worn action areas are normal wear and tear. As the gun is about four years old, we would expect these areas to loose their finish. It will not affect the gun and it is totally safe. myuserid
I wouldn't trust GMK's responses, I have a franchi harrier which is very stiff and has gouged pieces of metal from the block. I contact them and they said this is normal, nothing to worry about Recently contacted a gunsmith who told me to take it back to the shop, so its currently waiting to be sent back, brand new hasn't fired a shot! Bought myself a cheap browning while I wait.
the last engineer
its the nickle plating coming off, cant realy see why unless of cource you havent looked after it, no im not saying you havent, usualy plating peels off after a nock or chip to a corner, atmosphere and elements play their part and off it comes, moisture will wick its way under the plate and lift it, unfourtunatly only one answer and you wont like it, strip and replate. what was the answer from the shop? althought right in saying its not a safety problem, the gun will corode a lot faster if not arrested. i'm curious as to their solution to the problem......................... pray tell. Martin TBH I just bought the gun second hand, (I knew that it was like that when I bought it and I am delighted with it overall). Lets just say the gun is brand new and I mean brand new in every other respect the previous owner has well looked after it. That is just 2 pictures it is peeling all over the inside of the action about 5 big pieces and about 15 small pieces. It shouts out a manufacturing fault. If I'm not mistaken they came with a 5 year manufacturers g'tee. Is that correct?
the last engineer
i'm not familiar with individual manufacturers warrenties, as i said plating coming off that way smacks of parts not degreased or prepped correctly, the plating has covered the offending area but hasent adhered to the parent material, other than completly striping and re-plating the action the only advise i can give you is dont let it get worse, personaly i would treat the action by completly degreasing it first, then with a fine/light stone feather and remove any raised plating, this will help by not interfeering with moving parts and causing more flaking, after this make sure all debris is removed and treat with a dry lube, asimilar to the Molybdenum coating i use on my guns, this will impregnate the steel and protect your gun from abrasion and corrosion, take a look at mine and tell me what you think, each of these guns is used extensivly in clay shooting one of which now has excess of 200k through it, it works trust me. good luck and let me know how you get on. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...mp;hl=the+twins Martin
