HI Paul Yes he was a good honest dog worked day or night kill vermin but retrieve fur and feather to hand alive and undamaged, also was worked with my ferrets , but this is what I would expect from my lurchers, my first dog was a lurcher I got it for my 11th birthday, she was a border collie X springer spaniel X Greyhound. and that was a long time ago in the good old days ( as far as hunting and shooting went) I enclose a photo of my bitch PEG that I had in the seventies, i DONT HAVE THE TIME NOW DAYS TO RUN LURCHERS I am kept busy training gun dogs, I have 16 dogs at the moment but this includes old age pensioners, you look as though you have a good dog, all the best HI-FLYER

AdamC
Welcome hy-flyer. This is Bailey, we got him from a resuce centre nearly 2 years ago. I think he is a Staffy Grey Hound X. He is a great dog. So fast! He can out run and out maneuver my mum and dads Lurcher and he can do it for 20 times as long. A real power house and a joy to have around. Would love to train him to work as a gun dog, but not sure I have the time or skills. Here he is on the look out for someting to chase. Horses for courses lurchers are lurchers and gun dogs are different  let the running dogs do the do the catching , I spend a lot of time training gun dogs not to chase game. Hope you get plenty of sport for your dog, all the best Edited January 14, 2008 by hy-flyer
AdamC
He loves to fetch and retrieve toys etc. he just sometimes gets a bit carried away with when running back and takes to running around at full speed with the occasional neck flick and chewing. More a catcher than a retriever I would say. We just love to see him having fun and for the amount of rough shooting I do (none since my recent return to the sport), I think we will just leave it at that. We have had so many people say we should do dog agility with him, but have not found anywhere local to get involved with it.

He looks like a very fit animal......... and perhpas made for better things than speedball and agility :o I would just have to have in on the lamp at every given opportunity best of luck with him

AdamC
Haha.... you should see him go after a rabbit or deer. It is interesting to watch him develope his skills. He always just use to take off at full bore, now he paces himself and you can see him thinking about the chase, especially how an animal will run and if it is possible to cut it off. Thanks for the comments, some lovely dogs in this post.
