Lucent
Dear All, I recently bought a second hand Beretta AL391 Teknys Gold Sporting. It is great to shoot with but i have noticed that 1 or 2 in every 25 rounds gets stuck in the ejector port and as a result the second round doesn't chamber. I am trying to understand if this a normal problem when shooting semis or whether there may be something up. I have been using comp-X cartridges, nothing out of the ordinary. Your collective thoughts very welcome! Cheers Luc
tazkb
give it a good clean and i man good, make sure you get all the **** out of the transfer ports on the barrel and clean the trigger group. you shouldn't have a problem with any beretta semi and they generally cycle anything. although saying that some guns (not specificaly beretta) can be funny with some makes of shell i know my escort doesn't like certain makes of shells no matter what the load

Wildshot
Like they say give it a good clean & make sure that you get rid of any powder residue around the gas ports and mechanism under the fore-end. I find a small screwdriver scratches out all the muck.
Dead-Eyed Duck
I had a problem with mine and I traced it to the long recoil spring in the butt (for lack of a better description). When the main block recoils there is a long slotted piece that is forced back into a spring in the butt, and then this springs forces the block and action back into position. I came to the conclusion that this spring had become 'dry' (no lubrication, and this was preventing the action to cycle properly - not quick enough. It squeaked when I pushed it back with a long rod. So, I inserted a rod into the 'cup' that covers the spring and lightly dribbled some oil down it. Now the above may seem to be cobblers to some, but it cured it on mine. Never had a misfire since. Gordon R
MY friend Mark has the same problem. I saw a thread on here or another forum saying that the carrier that lifts the second shell up gets twisted and needs straightening. His gun is back in Italy, at Beretta, having the receiver replaced - corroding alloy. A common problem.
BlaserF3
Have a look on here http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=101242 There are a lot of questions and answers about Beretta's on this page. Re; Gordon R's comment about alloy corroding being a common problem. It's the nickel plating which is lifting from the receiver that causes the problem, all the black anodized guns do not have this problem at all. According to some other websites some O/U's with the nickel plated action's are starting to lift as well.
Lucent
Great, thank you, some very useful advice! The link to the shotgunworld page was extremely helpful with the pics i strongly recommend anyone with a Bereta AL391 to red this. I have disassembled the Beretta in its entirety and cleaned every square inch. I am surprised to see the useless tools they give you to disassemble the valve, the bolts were on so tight i have bent both tools already. Hopefully with any luck this will have solved the problem, thanks again!
