gdunc
Is it ok to use household stuff such as TCP and Savlon on dogs? Our cockers got a small wound on her shoulderblade which has had a scab come off. I'd like to give it a seeing to with some anti bacterial type stuff but not sure if it's ok to use the above? Should I go out and acquire some dedicated dog stuff?

It comes in a small 15g puffer that fits easily in the pocket/bag. D2D
new to the flock
I use Polysporin antibiotic cream which is available from our local chemist shop, or you can buy EMT which is specifically labled for dogs. EMT is available through most mail orders. NTTF
salisburykeeper
I generally use purple spray, you can get it from any agricultural dealers. We use it on everything from when lambs are castrated to cuts on horses also if the dogs get cuts or infections, the vet reccomneded it to us originally and it really works well

potshot
Most wounds powders dry out the wound and provide antiseptics but DO NOT promote healing. Neither does Savlon - so throw it away. The best I have found is DERMISOL which is available form your vet and is really worth the little bit extra. With 9 dogs and far too much barb wire around here I have found it to be the very best stuff.
