njc110381
I picked up my new 10/22 today. I'm really pleased I got SYSS to make it for me, the gun feels totally different to a standard Ruger and I get the feeling I'm going to really enjoy shooting it. I went for the standard barrel (was told it will cycle subs best with the Ruger barrel) which I had cut to 14" and screwcut, a tuned trigger and action and a Hogue green stock. All the metalwork is stainless. I've fitted it with a SAK mod. The scope is a Tasco 2-7x32 Illuminated reticule, nothing too posh but it should do a fine job at .22lr ranges. I'm really looking forward to taking it out. Strange really as a few months ago I said I'd never buy a 10/22. I guess peer pressure has something to do with it Here's a pic

njc110381
I've got no idea yet! I'll try to get out with it and have a play by the weekend. trouble is as far as I'm aware I need to be mentored at all times, as it doesn't say anything on my cert about it not counting on the range. I'll have to ring my mentor and see what he's up to. From what I've been told, one tip I can give is if you want a semi for hunting (subsonics) then don't get a custom barrel. The groups suffer a bit due to the chamber being cut less precisely, but that looseness stops the subs from sticking in the breech. I paid just over £400 for mine, so it seems it is true you need to spend a bit to make a Ruger shoot well!
Dunkield
Seriously Neil I hope it behaves and lives up to your expectations. A bloke I work with has a custom 10/22, I said "it looks like you must have spent a £1,000 on that" he just said "and the rest" and then showed me the new trigger he has just ordered. Each to their own.
njc110381
If it plays up it getting sold on, but I'm fairly confident in its ability. The standard guns can be pretty rubbish unless you find a round they like, but once customised they supposedly improve. I'm going out with Drovers later to zero and test it (after putting up a fence for him!)
Browning
Excellent choice of gunsmith Neil. The lads at SYSS are top notch. Any problems with the rifle and I'm sure they'll be more than willing to help you out.

A Sick Old Man
Good luck with it mate, you will get a lot of chaps here very ready to knock down the 10/22, I think you will love it. Get a JT Bolt lock if you can, I did and its a very handy modification, Chris
njc110381
I took it to the range today. Bloody scope was dodgy so I didn't get any decent groups, but apart from that it's great fun. I fired 50 velocitors down it which I have to say were very poor quality. No two sounded the same and they were all over the place! I switched to a mixture of CCI and Winchester subs and fired 150 rounds without a single mis-feed. Pretty good going I felt! I'm going to get the scope sorted and take it out for a serious zero session, I think it's going to do me well. Top marks to SYSS, it's the best 10/22 I've ever used
