ShaggyRS6
1 x Hob to start with. Then Possibly 2 x Jills in the Future, Hobby boy will have a Knot tied in it
henry d
....Hobby boy will have a Knot tied in it Still needs to be separate in the summer or he will be at a minimum a pest and at most a killer........I kid not.
ShaggyRS6
Ok, in that case is there a reason why I could not keep just 2 boys together. I know LB will lend me one until this years Kits come along. Assuming I can do that and to save the hassle of getting a floor you rekon the 2 teir one will do? Ferret Master
I've just been out power hosing down the ferret court so I took a few pictures while I was at it. Hope that gives you some ideas. FM

For that money I'd sleep in it I'd go to a DIY store and buy the wood and mesh and make one. £30 and you'll have a good hutch. £50 and the ferrets could live in the equivelant of a mansion. Cheers taz.
ShaggyRS6
Ok, this is what I ended up doing. What I would like to do is something along the lines of Ferret Master and others and have some tubing comming out of the hutch. I ,may even run it into my garage. Anyhoos. This is what I got. Just need a rain cover thingy.
Ferret Master
One thing to bare in mind is ferrets will enjoy early morning sunshine but not tollerate mid day Summer heat so position the cage accordingly. FM
ShaggyRS6
In the summer that spot gets sun until about 12:00 - 12:30 then it is covered by our house. Any good?
Cranfield
Regarding the "stocking", I would strongly suggest you get two jills, forget about the hob and just borrow one if you intend to breed in the future.
ShaggyRS6
Why you say that Cranny?
Cranfield
At least two, for company. I think jills work better and definitely live together more easily. Put a jill with a hob and there will be bullying and when she is in season you will have to separate them at some point. These are all my opinions based on my experience and not tablets of stone. No doubt others could post opposing views.
ShaggyRS6
Well this one is gonna be on its own, although LB may be letting be borrow one until I get another. the reason I went for a Hob is that I was told they are more laid back and as its my son's pet I thought that was a good idea. Cranfield
I would have said that a jill was more laid back than a hob, but as I said, everyone has their own opinions. Ferrets are gregarious creatures and are not usually happy on their own, regardless of their sex.
ShaggyRS6
Sounds like I will be taking LB up on his offer then
