When will this end

One nation can end it, perhaps. However not though action, but through cessation of underhanded action.

There in lies the problem, how do you stop doing something you are "not doing".

When I was a lad I thought having relations with the Americans was important. Now, aside from commercially, there isn't a good reason.

They have ****** up every single conflict they have been involved in, the only one they won properly was the one against us. Since then they have simply made the world a less secure and horrible place to live.

Sadly they are so big and so powerful, there isn't an end game I can see which doesn't hurt millions upon millions of innocent people :good:

The Americans were pretty useful during World War 2.

I think to understand Israel's role in the Middle East conflicts you have to go way back.

Biggest problem I have with that is it needed them to be directly attacked before they got involved. When they did they just about pleased themselves, couldn't actually do a great deal apart from run in to German bullets then dropped their **** and h-bombed their way out of it.

So what do we have there. A nation that was fully aware of the tyranny and oppression going on but stood there doing nothing. A nation who despite being an ally, still insisted we pay them every single penny back for all their "help" (we only made the final payment last year).

So, we side with them over the "war on terror". Our boys do all the hard jobs, show them how to do a propper job and end up getting blown to bits by their under trained and gung-ho helecopter and fighter pilots.

As so famously said "America has no greater friend and ally than Great Briton" More like there are no greater mugs willing to weakly stand beside them for fear we get picked on, having let our empire crumble into a sea of political correctness.

Lately we are being dragged towards recession and financial turmoil by these same people, what more harm can they do us? They shoot us, they **** up our economy, charge us for "help" with no sign of us geting any reward for the help we hand them freely. That's not to mention the "troubles" closer to home which I don't need to get into.

We'd probably end up better off if we were at war with them.

My limited experience of being on this planet not very long is that you meddle with other people's cultures (daft as they seem to us) you get your fingers burnt - right the way from the start of the British Empire and the continuing debt we apparently owe through to the current mess in the middle East.

I would tend to leave them all to it. If they want to knock eachother off until last man standing well that's their choice and yes they do have a choice - it might not be educated, informed and clouded by outdated religious beliefs but there you go.

It's a very narrow point of view and I know that narrow and insular can become world / global issues. Obviously when the Germans started throwing their weight around in Europe, has the World acted sooner who know how it could have panned out (and yes the US were late into the war, but hey that's history).

For the time being lets see how we can get energy out of bio fuels and send the middle east back into the stone age where they appear to want to be.

EDIT:

If you wanna bash the Yanks, the bottom line is if they hadn't joined in WW2 we would all be speaking German now (the half that wouldn't have been sent to the showers). The Yanks paid a human price and sent men to an escalating European War (on the other side of the planet) and a great deal of those men never returned. We paid them back a few quid over the years - I can't say I missed the money and my dad didn't mention anything about it.

i think you will find the states suffer high casualties and deaths in their troops too. and the financial thing is global, sadly the world seems to be content being in major debt. this has to be paid back somehow.i think this whole war on terror you have to look at the big picture.i always looked at the states as the worlds policeman and their economy is paying dear for it. whether we like to hear it or not we would probably be nazis today if it was nt for america.when some one hits you if you hit them back harder they will think twice before hitting you again. hence the logic in the atomic bomb, they knew there would be huge loss of life but it took it before the japs would surrender. what next iran has nuclear capabilities.are you content to sit back and let them develop it.im sure i dont.

I always like to keep things as simple as possible(some may call it bigotted and narrow minded) such as;

I like Americans

I like spanish people

I Don't like the french

I don't like that many Scots(miserable bunch who cost us a tangible fortune - the yanks don't)

Thereby until I find evidence to the contrary my simple rules keep me in good stead and do alright by my family.

The "interference" by the West with other peoples cultures and countries does seem very selective.

The excuse is that we are "liberators", "modernisers", "beating oppression", etc.

Look at the history of South Africa and what is happening now in most of the rest of Africa.

Are we doing anything to liberate, modernise or beat oppression ?

Of course we aren't, why ?

Because there is nothing in it for us.

Look beyond the Middle East, what about China's human rights issues, or N Korea.

Will we do any liberating, modernising, or oppression beating there ?

Of course not, why ?

Because they are big boys and may cause us some serious grief.

Very, very selective.
