Im fairly keen on a remmy, however after doing a search on here i found that the 700 sps got a bit of a slating for having a **** stock?? ive seen a 700 ADL not far from, is this any better, are there any differences?? also seen a tikka t3 lite, which also takes my fancy, what do ya think???

Also where is best to shop for scopes, price wise??(online shops etc.)

What mounts should i be using for my scope(want good quality)

have ya considered CZ550 ??

ask around for a good scope, nikko/burris/s&b

good luck......

Not really given them a thought to be honest, as im fairly new to the rifle sport, I thought id be better going for one of the more talked about brands?

I only seem to hear about CZ in the smaller sized guns, but if its another option then great-Just more of a dilemma when i shopping for one lol.

A lot of people like the 700 series because you can do a lot with them.

I have only ever fired a CDL 700 in 308 which was a nice rifle but, for the money the T3 gets my vote!

As for mounts Sako optilocks are very popular, personally I have warne mounts on my rifle and they have been great, both are good quality.

Online shops for scopes try, f a anderson, sportsmanguncentre, avalonguns, chris potter, yorkguns or buy a gunmart.

If you want a rifle that you can add to and improve (some might say rebuild with after-market parts from the trigger guard upwards), buy a Remmie 700 (preferably a VSF or similar). If you want a rifle that shoots straight right from the word 'go', buy a Tikka T3. I've got both a Remmie and a Tikka T3 my cabinet at present, and I almost always pick up the Tikka first.

Don't discount Howa rifles and the Browning A-Bolt.

If you want a cheap but good scope, order one from the following guys in the States www.eurooptics.com. I've just ordered another Meopta from them for a bargain price. I use Warne rings on almost every rifle (although I am having a Warne vs Optilock debate with myself at the mo, for my Tikka).

Remington for me every time, but yes either steer clear of the cheaper synthetic stocks, or simply budget to replace the stock straight off (these are the cheapest I've seen so far - http://www.staffs-synthetic-stocks.co.uk/ ).

Not sure what you mean Baldrick when you say

as all the Rem 700s I have shot have always been straight shooters, and if you always go for the Tikka why bother keeping the Remmy :) Edited by Oly

Oly, I know that you, as a die-hard Remmie fan, probably bleed green.... I'm not going to get into a Tikka vs Remington slanging match. It's just my opinion. I'm a huge fan of Remington's shotguns, but I prefer European rifles (apart from the Cooper that will arrive later in the year).

I have the Remmie on long-term loan from a relative. It's a good rifle, but in it's unmodified/blue-printed/factory barrel state, I believe that the Tikka is a more accurate and better-machined weapon. I also prefer the box magazine on the Tikka.

No worries there - trying to cut back!

Fair enough - that's what I was after. Cheers mate :good:
