Billett
Hi All, Got my SGC form, came to a section asking for a description of where the SG will be stored. Could anyone advise me how detailed this needs to be?? DO i hae to go down to details of how it was installed, or just a quick description of the location of the cabinet? Thanks for help in advance Regards Chris
alexm
I usually put in that box something along the lines of: "In a steel, purpose built gun safe bolted to a load bearing wall upstairs and out of sight. Property is fitted with window locks and alarm system"
Stu S
I think it's as follows: You should specify the type of cabinet, including any BS numbers that are on the cabinet, the type of fixings you intend to use, and a brief description of where you intend to keep the cabinet. The firearms officer should come to inspect the cabinet, so you don't really need to give too much info, just basic stuff. But if i'm wrong, i'm sure someone will correct me shortly! mr_colt
Obviously omit the alarm bit if you do not have one. Unless you live in a crime-ridden area; the police probably wont require you to have one unless you are going to store over 5 shotguns. mr_colt. WGD
I put "In an industry standard, fit for purpose gun cabinet in a location within my home residence to be agreed with the local firearms enforcement officer"; my FEO was pretty relaxed but my mate applied for his SGC a few months later in a different region and used the same line, his FEO was a real sticky character but was well impressed with this answer. Not saying you must do this but I took the view that every little bit helped. WGD
