Cosd
On Sunday I tried some wobblers (the Z springy type) on some shell deeks. They looked great added loads of movement to the pattern. Problem though was the hard ground. They would go in a few inches no problem; But because of the strong winds I wanted to push them deeper so deeks would sit lower to the ground and stop doing handstands I ended up damaging/bending most of them though and spent a while back home trying to straighten them up with some pliers. My guess is theyll bend even easier next time round now...! Any tips?
ironhorse
I had the same problem; I now carry a hammer and colt chisel
mr smith
I bought a cheap screwdriver to make holes for decoy sticks and hide poles.
codling99
how about taking a small bottle of water, and pouring on ground to soften it first
Cushat
I like the old screwdriver idea - made a mess of a couple of fingers here and there by trying to force decoy sticks into hard ground. THe plastic ones are the worst and always have a few rough bits on them - great for slicing open cold fingers or palms when your hand slips!! Cosd
Even better, the guy that sold and made them to me has modified them and also made an ingeniously simple inserter. A lot lighter than the screwdriver as well. Sorted

hogey
Hi I use some 3/8 pipe flattened at one end and knock in with a hammer. I have mounted the shells on springy door stops attached to a bit of 1/4 inch rod. This sits inside pipe and always turns head to wind. Cosd
Got my inserter from ricky green (pw member) who makes them himself. He saw the thread and has made small modification to the wobblers (he sells) and made an inserter as well. Much lighter and easier than taking a hammer.
