Scuffed rape stubble.

Went out for the fourth time this week and finally got a decent bag. The weather has been that hot and sticky that the birds have just not wanted to know.

Went to a rape field today that was cut on Wednesday after keeping an eye on it since it was sown and was full of hope. Didn't realise that the farmer employed out of work Grand Prix drivers though as after cutting Wednesday it was scuffed and disked on Thursday.

Anyway on arrival i saw a few birds braving the sun and feeding happily so i gave it a try.

Was a bit sporadic but in the end i got 50 plus a crow and the bulk of them are in the photo.

Had to go on my own as my mate Lloydy thought it more important to attend his daughter's wedding than come pigeon shooting, no accounting for some people. :)

Looking good mate, that's a nice camo pattern on your gun, how much did it set you back to get a dip or did you buy it factory made?

:) The gun is my AL391 Synthetic in Advantage Wetlands camo as supplied new.

I no longer alternate between this gun and my O/U and as a result i find i am shooting a lot better by sticking to the one gun.

Attached is a picture of the type of hide i wait 11 months to be able to build.

Around bales in the middle of a stubble field. Got 25 and 5 rooks on Thursday afternoon.

Lloydy has some nerve...Putting off a hunting trip to attend a wedding.. :*) And being his daughters aswell...its not like it was some friend of the faimly that would never speak to him again....its his Daughter she is always going to talk to him... :) Ern you may just have to find someone with alittle more commitment to the sport to be your partner .... :) after all you cant let just anyone carry your equiptment for you..... :P

Lloydy:

How long have you had the gun & what did it cost you!

Bought it new just over 4 years ago when they were just being imported in camo. version.

Had to travel to get it and they were retailing for £800 at the time, no doubt you could probably get a better deal now.

They only had the Wetlands pattern in the shop but being a good salesman he convinced me that the pigeons wouldn't know the difference. :)

Am sure he was right.

Without a doubt though, it is the best gun i have ever used for pigeon shooting.

:< Don't worry NT, when he came creeping to go out with me today i made the point by carrying the hide poles to my hide un-assisted.

We had drven up the field to where we were going to shoot mind you but i made it clear that he wasn't indispensible. :P

:)
