Down South
I've got first dibs on a L reg 5 door 7 seater 2.5 tdi disco. 87k genuine, 4 months tax and mot. £700. No body damage and looks quite tidy, square headlamps will need replacing and the ignition key barrel might need replacing due to a broken key. Some oil on the rocker box and around the oil cooler connections. Apparently all works and drives well. Is it worth giving it a good look at for that money and if so what are the danger areas/signs for an old lady like this? Thanks. DS.

deny essex
My old "M" reg disco still going strong with 160 thou plus on the clock , 2 engine cook ups managed by my son when he owned it, one new head replcement and just the normal running stuff replacements , no rot in the areas as mentioned or any welding work has been needed, check the points previously mentioned, but they accelerate like a snail. lurcherboy
For £700 you are at the very bottom end of the market. If it doesn't smoke when booted after being allowed to idle when hot, the engine will be fair to middling on that mileage. It will be rusting everywhere and probably well hidden by whatever material comes to the vendors hand. That money will buy you something Asian and in better condition, IMHO.
