Don't know if this has been done before guys so appologise if it has, but am new to pigeon decoying so advise would be really good here.

I have aquired a really good bit of ground, 400 acres or so. My trouble is, there doesn't (or at least I can't seam to suss out) any flight lines  !! There is plenty of pigeons about but they never seem to be where I am!! The crop at the mo is rape and they are feeding on it but I can't seem to draw them in to shoot

Really need some help here guys :D:good:

If you watch the field they are feeding on you should notice that they favour certain areas of the field.

These areas may be the shortest growth (they can move about easy), or they may be sheltered from the wind, or furthest from the road, there is usually a reason for where they are feeding.

You have to get your hide as close to one of those areas as possible.

The birds should be interested in where you are, but your decoy layout could make their minds up and draw them in.

Pigeon shooting is 80% firldcraft, watch the field if possible (depends on what hours you work) and the rest is all personal preferance. I personally would start out with some pre-shot birds thawed out the night before or flock coated ones and a manet that dosn't shine with a speed controller added. If that dosn't work replace the magnet with a flapper and bouncers.

Its all about movement in the pattern.

Try putting the decoys on spring sticks.

Good luck. Richard

I've watched them with the time I've had, and they just seem to be all over the place, they don't have a particular pattern :hmm:

I've seen where they feed, and when I'm set up and let the first pigeon have it, they're gone! All of them and then they don't seem to return! I don't want to stop going to this shooting ground, as I believe it will have a very rewarding bag at some point, but sitting there in the cold for hours waiting for a pigeon not to turn up is getting tedious :good:

I had a similar day 2 Sundays ago so went back round the field again and turned the gas guns back on to keep them moving.

Also noticed a field of drilled beans 2 fields away that is not my land.

I moved twice that day but it wasnt happening, they just moved to another part of the 100 odd acre field or a different field altogether.

You win some and you loose some.
