magman
Up early saturday morning for a drive across the border . 2.45 wake up start off at 3.15 arrrive at destination 6.15 to meet up with an old friend from school that went into gamekeeping when he left school . Funny how things happen he was home visiting his parents a week or two back when we bumped into each other in the town ,got chatting and had a invite to the estate he,s working on for a stalk Free aswell . On arrival was told to fetch the .223 incase there was any roe about or charlie as he gets taken on site even if there is deer about . Were of now all on foot over the top of a few small hills as he calls them 1 hour of walking and had a break over looking a nice vally spotting all the time Daylight was breaking and the birds had just started there morning corus but as you can see there was drizzle around all day and a strong wind at times . Starts of to the next vally to see if anything is on the move but with the conditions there wasn't much hope as he said they will be back in the cover of the pine woods ,But who cares with the views around next valley Nothing showing so starts the walk back with plenty of catching up on the way just as we reach the house there,s a fox around the buildings and was told if the shot is on take it, don't need telling twice . a shot presents itself at about 150 yrds so i take it standing at a 45 degree angle when we walk up to it there is a nice exit wound on the far side of it . Job done Spent the rest of the day up there helping him out about the place and will be back shortly hope it didn't bore you but going to have to get fitter as the small hills are hard work Rob
