Billett
So my forms are off in the post today...woo hoo But just out of interest what are the requirements to carrying your SGC when you have it? I'm guessing its a good idea to take it with you when you are transporting your gun, but is it a reqirement to show it when going to a club for a practice? jayward
ITS simple if you have your gun have your cert !!! and the same for purchasing amo take your cert , tbh i where i go i dont get asked anymore but theres always a 1st time edit yehh i agree with J@mes theres no legal requirement but tbh is it worth the hassle if your in the field leave it in the car i could see the police making a right song and dance if its a quiet day and firearms team turning out etc etc i personally follow the rule have gun have cert ... J@mes
there is no requirement to carry you cert with you when you are transporting or using your gun. should you be pulled over, inform the officer that you have a gun in the car, and that you are licensed to own it. they can check this on a database, although they may temporarily take possession of your weapons while the checks are made. obviously it is easy to carry your cert and avoid all this though, but some times its not practical. stokie
I work with a guy who was on a farm shooting last summer . A neigbour had complained about seeing guns. The police came and took his gun from him because he didn`t have his licence with him. He had to make an apointment to go and collect it on production of his cert. Just goes to show its better to carry it or leave it in the car.
Peter De La Mare
There are times and situations where it's by far the most sensible option is to tow the line and just do what you're told and answer just yes and no. These are when passing through customs and when dealing with the coppers. I speak from experience on both counts. Both situations have the ability to screw your entire day/life at a whim of a uniformed *****. The time taken to collect and carry the SGC faaaaarrrrrrr outweighs (by a billion times) the possible time vampire/aggro scenarios of NOT having it. clayman
Most FEO's would recommend you carry ID and a photocopy of you licence. You can prove who you are, and any police officer can verify your licence is valid very quickly. Clayman
Big_Sam
I keep a copy of the licence in a safe place in the house and carry the real one with me when I have the gun. Jolly useful to have it on you, up here gunshops are rare and passing one you can't resist popping in to get some more carts! Bought 5 different types this week alone, yet fired none of them
