Mrs Sweepy Posted February 24, 2008 Report Share Posted February 24, 2008 why thank you jon ,for remembering . well we arrive early so we could both eye up the talent . me to see what competition their was . and sammy as since mits has been in season,he not been getting a lot of action. anyway after we had stood in line for ten mins to sign in and to be giving are number 59 (i think the lady behind the desk was shocked . when i told sammy to stand still why i pin the number on him. some people just dont know when am joking ) we went and found somewere to sit down . which just happen to be between a lady with a black pug and a gentleman with chihuahua . i think sammy thought o good dinner . by this time i had manage to look around the hall . and i must admit i was feeling rather confident about are chances . the room seem full of springers G.S.Ds. J.Rs chihuahuas and pugs . the only real threat to are moment of glory. was a very cute newfoundland pup . but luckly he went into the group before us . which was puppies to one year of age (of which the little fella can first . ) next was mine and sammy class . so of we went to take are place among the pugs,springers and chihuahuas . and as we stood there tall and proud . i think we both had come to the conclusion that we were going to walk away from are group top dog . AND THEN WE SAW HER . it was like in the movies when the hero sees the heroine for the very first time . the sun shone on her gorgeous red coat as she glided across the floor to her place next to us . within a split second of her taking her place. sammy hormones had gone into overdrive . he only had one thing on his mine . he was not going to leave the floor till he shown this beautiful irish terrier . at what a clumber may lack in speed and agility he made up for down below the next few mins pass in a haze for me as i try my hardest to remind sammy that we were there to win . and not to cop of with the little minx beside him . and then the room went quiet as the judge took her place to read out the results . well almost quiet . as it was that this point .sammy decided he was going to bring up a giant fur ball (could have been worse i surpose ). it was like the parting of the waves . as every owner move their darling little pooches away from sammy and myself . now this must have really embarrass sammy . so to hid the fact of what he had just done . he decided the only thing to do was to then go and sit on the vomit . and pretend it never happen . after a mop and bucket was found . the judge carry on . all ears were listening to hear there number 66 a little JR 54,a pug AND........................ 57 the rather beautiful irish terrier . so that was that sammy moment of glory snatch from him . by the little minx . or so we thought . but no are moment of glory was still to come. as we were about to leave the hall . one of the judges over the mic called as back . and ask us to join her on the stage. for a sec i thought it was because we had missed cleaning up a bit of vomit. but no . she wanted to draw everyone attention to the fact that sammy was a very rare breed she then went on to explain what he breed was and what he was bred for . and how it was a shame that certain breeds were dying out . especially working breeds. she then thank me and sammy for taking the time to come and take part in the dog show . so in a way we did not go away empty handed . one of the reason i went today was to see if a working dog could come somewere in the dog show . we may not have come home with a cup or prize . but a few more people then yesterday now know what a clumber spaniel this . xxxxxsuzy Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
