pigeon master
Hi Guys, just wanted to show you a Tope I managed to catch when in the canaries last xmas, hooked this fish 900ft down,"deep I know". Hoping to get out there again for a Marlin so fingers crossed, notice how small the other ones are compared to mine, laugh.....I laughed so much when I dragged it in. Another guy took all his own gear with big reels and harness and assured me he would catch the biggest, he was so wrong that day. I know a few of the guys fish also, has anyone had a real special fish from abroad? The PM

red_stag88
We can all recognise Pigeon Master by the fact that he walks around, back doubled over and arms dragging on the ground Nice fish.
Teal
Is tope a good eating fish, it seems a sshame for them to have killed so many youngsters who would have grown into the larger ones like what you caught, I know the sea is large and not sure of the size of operation but if there are quite a few boats doing this it may not be sustainable. Great catch anyway, I am pretty sure they catch quite a few tope off ireland which would have saved you quite a trip
Cranfield
Teal, I have caught tope over 50lb in Clew Bay, Co Mayo. All were tagged and released. Congratulations on the big fish Pigeon Master and I appreciate that as you were on a Canary charter boat, you probably didn't have much choice about returning it. It is a pity that they kill so many immature fish, but it is part of Spain, so there lies the answer.
Fisherman Mike
I too have caught and released many big tope off Aberdovey... Shame those in the photos were killed but like Cranfield said our Spanish friends will catch, shoot, kill and eat anything it seems without any thought of the consequences.. A big tope on lightish tackle and a running tide is a great experience. FM.
pigeon master
Hi guys, yes the only fish they release are game fish, the small ones should really have been put back but they eat them over there after smoking them. There seems to be so many of these type of fish over there and I understand its because they are only fished for in the last and first month of the year. When consider the water depth was 900ft and everytime you hit bottom you were into a fish so there must be thousands on the bottom. The rest of the time they fish for the tuna and marlin that arrive in the warmer months, super place to fish. The PM
