bob300w
You pay your money and you take your choice.... Either an Escort at around 330 quid, which will not matter too much if you drop it in the mud or it goes rusty, or a Beretta, at around the £1000 mark that you would not be embarrassed to be seen out with and you would probably look after. I have used a Beretta 302 on the shore for ages, one year I dropped it in the mud, took it down to the water line washed it out in the tide and carried on using it, pretty sure that an Escort would not take that kind of treatment and come out of it unscathed. In my experience Remingtons are not very reliable, very pretty but also very fragile, not foreshore material. To sum up, for your 600 quid, I would go for a second-hand Beretta, you will get one as new for that money. Re your question about jamming, keep it reasonably clean, as much as you would any other gun, and you will have no problems.
Jimbo57
I would suggest a second hand "good make" like Beretta or Benneli rather than a new Escort or similar. If you are worried about jamming, think about a pump instead. They take a bit of getting used to but, with practice, are just as fast and less prone to meckanical problems. pavman
I have been known to do a little Fowling  My 1st thought would be Duck or Goose if Duck its what suits you, my little Escourt mud gun semi covers all I need it to from flight pond to foreshore, Geese are another situation altogether,,,, I favour, and use a 10 bore but if I looked at a 12 it would be the Berretta Xtrema either the one or two, 3.5 chamber nothing else

al4x
I wouldn't bother with a pump too much clanking and ******* about compared to a decent semi. You won''t get jams if you clean it regularly and buy a decent one. My ancient Browning B80 jammed the other week for the first time it was telling me it didn't like a years use without cleaning

" Nowhere in my post did I say that they were ****, and you are the first person that I have heard say that they have given one a hard life, but you must admit that the Beretta is a better quality gun, and for the price (another £1000) that they are you would expect them to take more punishment. Mine has certainly taken some stick.Whether they kill any better is up to the man behind it, (and no, that is not a challenge) and whether the escort will have as long a life remains to be seen. Personally, although I like the Beretta semi's, I think that they are way overpriced. Maybe the competition of these lower priced guns will force the price of Beretta's down.
