Hi

I am thinking of applying for a firearms certifcate so that I can kill rabbits and vermin on my land, as I cannot get close enough with my shotgun (60 to 70 yards).

Can anyone advised me which rifle would be suitable for the purpose of killing rabbits and vermin?

Many thanks

If you can afford to buy and run an F150 then you can afford to run a .17HMR. I'd go for one of those over a .22 because they're a lot easier to shoot with IMO. The downside is extra noise and £12/50 bullets rather than £4/50 for .22lr. The HMR will do 150 yards with ease, the .22lr is really only any use for under 100 and that is at a push.

Not wanting to stir things up, but I've taken the odd rabbit at 50 with my air rifle. It's not something to be done by the inexperienced, but if you can be sure of the shot the gun has the power to do the job. Mine were taken on very still days, and all were clean kills. :no:

700 nitro express with an 1000 grain soft point bullet!!!!!!!!!

(But if not been childish then a 22lr its a lot cheeper and u will have a shoulder and ears after firing it)

22lr=£ 4 for a box of 50 or there a bouts

700=£ 50-60 per round!!!!!!! or £5000-6000 for one hundred i hope your ritch!!!!!
