tinbum71
As title. I'm in the market for a semi and by my way of thinking, get a gun that'll fire 3.5" and I can use them if I ever feel the need. But will it cycle ok with standard shells with standard loads? I'm probably gonna get an Escort or s/h "Branded" gun. Your thoughts and experience welcomed.
polski
The 3 1/2 inch escort that I have will fire the shorter/lighter cartridges but does suffer with ejection problems. I stick with 32 gms and they are just fine. Rick.
CEREALTHRILLER
If you go for a second hand Beretta or Browning they'll be fine with game loads - 2 3/4" 30g and 32g You will find that they don't cycle every time on light clay loads - 24g
Pagey
A freind of mine as an escort for lamping.. and that struggles with anything less that 30g, whilst i have a 25 year old beretta a301, and this will cycle 28g clay cartridges with no probs, this also just feels like it is built better.. haven't tryed anything less.. The newer ones that take the 3 1/2" cart have an insert that is put on the piston that cycles the chamber. By inserting it the gun can cycle all cartridges without problems. Cheers taz. JohnGalway
My Baikal Mp-153 will shoot and cycle any cart I put into it, although 28g 2.5" is the lightest I've tried simply as I've not come across 24g.
